DSTS Dynamic Wireless Drive Shaft Torque Measurement Transducer

KA Sensors offers a full custom service to fit a wireless dynamic torque measuring sensor to a drive shaft. Available to both race teams and race car manufacturers the sensor can be designed, manufactured, calibrated and supplied to fit a wide range of drive shaft diameters. 

Having quickly understood a customers requirements KA will prepare the supplied shaft to have the strain gauging bonded on to it.  By using leading edge strain gauging techniques and smart amplifiers we are able to measure, amplify and correct for temperature errors in one compact assembly.  The whole assembly is then fitted with a wireless transmitter with built in long-life battery pack, along with a rugged receiver unit.

GSS In-Line Gearshift Load Cell

The GSS series of miniature load cells are fitted into the gearbox control rod and designed for use in clutchless gearshift applications. During the gearchange sequence the driver moves the gear lever as normal, the GSS series load cell detects the force applied to the gear shift lever, this force is measured by the ECU, then a series of control events take place that allows the gears to mesh with full throttle still applied.

The SPC Speed Sensors have been designed as simple compact sensors suited to the demanding motorsport and automotive testing industries.  

Using proven Hall Effect sensing technology, the SPC  detects a change in magnetic field as the target passes the sensor tip. The output transistor switches its state as the target passes, so giving a measureable pulse train which can be used within standard data logging equipment or ECU’s. The sensor will continuously operate at temperature up to 300°F.

This Pitot Tube is used to measure a cars speed relative to the surrounding air.  The assembly is made up of a pair of concentric tubes.  The ellipsoidal nose cone at the tip has a small aperture in the end connected to the inner tube, while an annular ring of holes on the outer tube senses the static/surrounding air pressure.  By measuring the difference between the air pressure of the inner and outer tubes (see the KA Sensors KAP Differential Pressure Sensor), the speed of the vehicle can be sensed, measured and calculated.  While a standard sized KAPT is available, a full custom service is also available.  See separate datasheet for details of the Differential Pressure Sensor (KAP).
